Ukrainian Unconventional Gas Institute: Projects and Achievements

The Ukrainian Unconventional Gas Institute (UGI) is a programme run by Shell Ukraine and the British Council under the framework of the Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) for hydrocarbons to be produced within the Yuzivska license area.тичну безпеку через диверсифікацію постачань, стабілізацію систем до- ставки енергії, зниження викидів парникових газів та інших продуктів горіння.

The Programme aims to promote the experience sharing between the Ukrainian and foreign partners in the field of unconventional hydrocarbons production; to enhance knowledge, skills and qualification of the professionals in this field; to study economic, environmental and social influence over the state, regional and local development; and to raise public awareness of responsible hydrocarbons’ development.

The UGI calls for project proposals were conducted on a competitive basis in the following areas: Natural gas as an energy source in Ukraine. Best global practices for environmental protection. Best global regulatory (licensing) practices. Social and economic benefits of exploration and production projects for local communities, districts and regions. Water and energy: environmental audit and efficient use of energy resources (energy efficiency)
