A YEAR IN THE ENERGY COMMUNITY: ARE WE DOING WELL?

The Energy Community is a regional union of South-Eastern European countries, created for socio-economic stability and safety of supply among the member countries and the EU. Founded in 2006 for the period of ten years, the Community covers the market in the region populated by 73 mln. people.

Ukraine’s Membership of the Energy Community gives the ability to provide more intense competition, higher technical standards and regulations, and better investment environment in the internal market. This also means more profound integration of Ukrainian energy sector with the markets in EU countries and intensification of its own energy security. Another advantage of the membership of this organization is an additional opportunity for the member countries to contract international loans and technical assistance.
